This report, the second in the series, provides insights on the issues that matter most to people in the Basin with a focus on water reform. The report is based on an independent survey of a representative random sample of 511 people who live in the Basin conducted in October 2010.
Some of the key findings include:
- 75% of people in the Murray-Darling Basin agree that water allocations should change so enough water is available for the natural environment.
- 46% of Basin residents believe that responsibility for water reform rests with the whole community.
- 60% of people believe that change to water reform is likely or very likely to occur
- 62% of residents believe that change needs to occur urgently
